Hedley Roberts
Hedley Roberts thinks about love, love lost, and love lamented. Influenced by Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse, love films, narratives of popular music and visual blogging cultures, Roberts' expressive figurative paintings and video installations look for satiation, passion and love, only to find adolescent anxiety, emotional crisis and broken heartedness.
Hedley Roberts is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art. He is a Stanley Picker Fellow, a Royal College of Art Fellow and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His work has been presented nationally and internationally including at the International Symposium of Electronic Arts Japan, Superdeluxe Gallery Tokyo Japan, Artoll Germany, Annexe Gallery Malaysia, Nanyang Academy of Fine Art Singapore, Studio 1.1 London, APT London and Vyner Street Gallery London.
Hedley Roberts is Head of Art & Design at the University of East London. He established the Directional Forces project in 2011.
